“8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to rise from the bottomless pit and go to destruction. And the dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel to see the beast, because it was and is not and is to come. 9 This calls for a mind with wisdom: the seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman is seated; 10 they are also seven kings, five of whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he does come he must remain only a little while. 11 As for the beast that was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven, and it goes to destruction. 12 And the ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have not yet received royal power, but they are to receive authority as kings for one hour, together with the beast.” Revelation 17:8-12 (ESV)
The satellite image above is an overall view of the Golan Heights Geoglyph site at the base of Mount Hermon. To the left, the Ram/Pan Geoglyph, at the centre is the Bull Geoglyph, and below the Bull Geoglyph is the Hand Geoglyph. Note that there are two heads of two beasts with horns (see film or previous article part 1 for more detailed images), and the images are made of mountains, and there is a kings fortress on the Hand Geoglyph where Nimrod is said to have been seated on his thrown.
When we the book of Revelation, John receives a vision from an angel, and the angel gives the interpretation of the vision. From it we learn that heads and represent mountains and kings, and horns also represent kings. The beast is given the authority of a king for a short time, when one of the fallen seven kings from the past mysteriously returns to the thrown for a short time before being destroyed. We also learn that there is a thrown or ‘seat’ of power upon a mountain that the woman sits on. Back in Rev 17:5 we are told about the identity of the woman:
“And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”
In Revelation 17:8 we are told that the beast that returns to power after a fatal wound(Rev 13:1-3), is to return to power on earth after having been released from the bottomless pit. This release and return to earth will happen before the tribulation period, after which he and the false prophet will be thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone for eternity. That will take place on the day of judgement and just before the 1000 years of restoration. In contrast, Satan is free to roam the earth until he is locked up in the bottomless pit for the 1000 years, which begins directly after the tribulation period and on the day of judgement. He will then be released from the bottomless pit for a short time after the 1000 years of restoration of the earth, before also being thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone for eternity. So the bottomless pit is the holding place before eternal destruction. It is like death row for the unholy trinity. Soon after the beast has been release from it, it is then Satan’s turn to be temporarily locked up there.
Revelation 20:1-10 (ESV):
“Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain. 2And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, 3and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while.
4 Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5 The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.
7 And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will come out to deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea. 9 And they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, but fire came down from heaven and consumed them, 10 and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”
Another verse of scripture that may be speaking about this location is Revelation 13:11 (ESV):
“Then I saw another beast rising out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon.”
The Pan Geoglyph ‘rises out of the earth’, right besides the ‘bottomless pit’ that is in Pans Grotto. Could this be the actual location of the bottomless pit that Scripture speaks of?
Nahal Hermon Spring emerges from Pan’s Grotto at the fingertips, resembling something like lightning coming from ‘the hand of God’ in Michelangelo’s painting, ‘Creation of Adam’.
Orion’s Belt has always stood out to me in the night sky, even as a child. So it is not surprising to find many great characters throughout the worlds history that are associated with this dominating star formation. But digging a bit deeper, there are very significant and specific connections that unite these great characters from history and legend. One of these characters is Nimrod. The meanings of all of the other names of the characters listed above, also translate to fit different attributes of the one character Nimrod.
But what does the constellation of Orion have to do with the Hand Geoglyph which Nimrods Fortress sits upon?
In the image above, the Hand constellation can be seen overlapping the constellation of Orion.
“Native people of the northern plains, including the Mandan, Hidatsa, Crow, and Lakota, refer to one of the most familiar groupings of stars in the night sky as the Hand constellation. According to the oral histories of these people, the Hand constellation is the place in the sky through which the souls of the dead can leave this world.”
On the online encyclopedia named, ‘The Encyclopedia of Hočąk (Winnebago) Mythology’´, Richard L. Dieterle has a section called, ‘Orion Mythology’, In it he documents the native American hand constellation myths. According to Dieterle, there are a number of Siouan tribes and neighbouring tribes that view some of the stars within the Orion constellation as a hand constellation.
There are some variations of the story between the different tribes. Two versions are documented in the book ‘The Stars We Know:Crow Indian Astronomy and Life Ways’ by Timothy P. McCleary. The Crow Indian versions of the story, as told by Peter, an elder from Pryor, is very close to the Hidatsa Indian version. The nemesis is a character called ‘One With A Long Arm’.3 Another version is told by Lloyd from The Big Horn District, where the nemesis is a character named ‘Red Woman’.4
In all accounts, the landscape features at Pans Grotto fit the descriptions of the landscape within the from the different versions of the story. These are:
‘Thrown Into The Spring’ or ‘Spring Boy’ was the name given to one of two twin boys in the story because after his mother was killed, he was cut out from the womb and thrown into a spring that was beside them.8 There is a spring present in this location.
The Hočąk version of the story has a hole in the ground that leads to the underworld, populated by water spirits, through which ‘Spring Boy’ enters.9 In pre-Roman times, Baal was believed to travel to the underworld by travelling down into Nahal Hermon Spring.
The ground around the foot of the mountains is red because of the blood of ‘Red Woman’ who’s hand is cut off at the wrist.1 Pans Grotto is also at the foot of the mountains and the rock is also what we would call ‘red’.
Other significant aspects to the Indian Hand constellation stories are:
A portal in the sky through which spirit beings come through to Earth.7 The book of Enoch says that Mount Hermon was the location of a portal trough which the fallen angels came from the spirit realm to Earth (1 Enoch 6:1-7). It is also where the transfiguration of Yeshua took place, and Moses and Elijah descended back to Earth for a short time (Matthew 17:1-13).
The heavenly portal is literally connected to the Hand constellation.6 The Hand Geoglyph is literally connected to the spring in Pans Grotto. In pre-Romans times they believed that Nahal Herman Spring, the ‘bottomless pit’ was the entrance to the ‘Underworld’, where Baal would go to for the winter, until he returned in the spring time, which they believed would start the spring season. (I am guessing this is where we get our word for the season of ‘Spring’?)
The spirit being who gets his hand cut off by Spring Boy in one of the versions is called Baaáalichke. 4 The name given to the god at Banias (Nahal Hermon Spring) was called Ba’al gad or Ba’al Hermon. 5
Hypothesis of The Origin of The Hand Star Story
Is there any other evidence to connect the Native American Indians to this location? One hypothesis is that the Indians are one or more of the lost tribes of Northern Israel.
There has been a lot of scientific research into the origins of Native Americans over the past few decades. Numerous studies of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) have concluded that the Native Americans migrated not from Israel – as believed by the Mormons/Later-day Saints – but almost exclusively from Siberia, from across the Baring Strait. Simon Southerton, ex-Mormon, scientist and author writes:
“The Asian origin of essentially all Native Americans was firmly established by the middle of the 20th century, using classical genetic markers such as blood groups and variation in other proteins (enzymes). During the last two decades, much higher resolution molecular studies have confirmed the Asian origin of Native Americans, the timing of migrations into the Americas and the routes these people took as they entered North and South America.”
“These people entered the Americas via a wide expanse of land—called Beringia—which connected northeastern Asia with northwestern North America during ice ages when sea levels were lower.” 2
Ruling out the possibility that the Native Americans originate from anywhere near Mount Hermon, it begs the question; how do they have a legend that fits in so well with the location of the Hand Geoglyph? Another hypothesis is that this story was given by a spirit being (elohim) of some kind. This is actually what the Crow Indians believe to be true:
“Indeed, among the Crow the practice of storytelling is actually credited to the stars. The telling of stories is limited to the winter months because Old Woman’s Grandson, the offspring of a human and the Sun, is said to have told the Crow that he wanted to hear his stories when he was around. Known as Ihkaléaxe or the “Bright Star” (Sirius), Old Woman’s Grandson is visible throughout the winter nights, so his stories, as well as stories of other supernatural beings, are told in the winter.”
(McCleary, Timothy P. (2011-08-01). The Stars We Know: Crow Indian Astronomy and Lifeways (Page 10). Waveland Pr Inc. Kindle Edition.)
This almost lines up with the Bible. Nimrod is recorded in Genesis as being the great-grandson, not the grandson of Noah. Noah and his wife would have been the oldest humans alive after the flood, understandably making Noah’s wife (who is never named in Scripture) an ‘old woman’, and therefore Nimrod to be the ‘Old Woman’s Great-Grandson’. But then again, we should never trust a character such a Nimrod to be telling the truth. Not to mention any inaccuracies in a story that has been passed down through so many generations via oral tradition, especially when we know there are different versions of this same story.
Migration of Giants
The other hypothesis is that the Indian’s story of the Hand Constellation comes from one or more of the tribes of ‘giants’ mentioned in the Bible (Numbers 13:27-33, Deuteronomy 2:10-11, Deuteronomy 3:11-13). They were the Anakim, Emims, Raphaim, Avims and Zamzummins. Some of whom then fled from Israel when being pursued by Joshua’s army after YHVH commanded him to drive them out of the land (Joshua 13:1-7). Joshua 11:21-22 reads):
“21 And Joshua came at that time and cut off the Anakim from the hill country, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the hill country of Judah, and from all the hill country of Israel. Joshua devoted them to destruction with their cities. 22 There was none of the Anakim left in the land of the people of Israel. Only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod did some remain.”
Numerous archaeological digs from the 1800’s and onwards provide enough evidence for us to know that there were in fact ‘giants’ averaging about 7-9 feet tall, of mysterious origin, found buried under ancient earthworks as described in part 1 of this article. There are also many Native American Indian stories of encounters with giants in past times. This is a very significant link to the Golan Heights region, and may well explain the connection between the Hand Geoglyph and the Native American Hand constellation story.
Because the giants were neither fully human nor fully angelic, there is no designated place for their spirits at this time. These deceiving spirits are what we know today as evil spirits that can manifest in many ways. Not only could any one of these living giants have given the Indians their ‘Hand Star’ story, buy any one of the giants in spirit form could have also done so.
It is not a coincidence that the giants are found buried under earthworks that are located along the ancient ley lines that are networked across the world. There is a global spiritual warfare strategy at work here, and it is one that the Church has to take far more seriously.
